Background on the name:

If you didn't know, Alma Park is a working farm (fiber animals and hay), in Northern Burlington County, NJ.  Right in the middle of the farm, situated amongst the animals is "The Yarn Shop at Alma Park", which is a full-service yarn store with approx 1,200 sq ft showroom.

The farm and store are in Jobstown NJ, which  has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is not what most people think of when they think of NJ, the most densely populated state in the nation.  It is a sleepy little place with picturesque farms and rolling hills and tons of agricultural crops and animals.  A place where you can still purchase food from your neighbors, be it vegetables or meat, it's all available and we feel very fortunate to live in such a place.  Also on my farm is a house, my house, built in 1740, (before America was America) which used to be called "Persimmon Hill".  It is a large farm house with several fireplaces, and large closets, that is set close to the road and is non-descript in architectural style, mostly due to the major remodels that occurred each century.   While it is not considered "historic", just beyond my hay fields was a house that is on the registry named "Oakwood" which burned down in 2002 and was a magnificent manor owned by the same family, which farmed and lived on this piece of land for centuries.  My neighbor is the brother of the man we purchased our farm from and we can look over our shared fence line to see his cows and chickens.  Being brand new to this area and home, my research of the area made the history come alive for me and I have come to love this farm and home as if I lived here all my life.  Welcome to my little piece of the planet !
